Successful TRR 417 Kick-Off Meeting
On December 8, 2025, the SFB/TRR 417, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), celebrated an important milestone with its official Kick-Off Meeting, held at the Georg-Speyer-Haus in Frankfurt. Researchers from Goethe University Frankfurt, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, University of Freiburg, Georg-Speyer-Haus and the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut came together to mark the start of their transregional collaboration.
The TRR 417 aims to uncover how cellular and molecular interactions within the tumor microenvironment drive the development and progression of colorectal cancer, and how these interactions influence therapeutic response. Ultimately, the consortium aims to translate these insights into the development of more effective treatment options against colorectal cancer.
During the Kick-Off Meeting, the scientists and clinicians of the TRR 417 presented research goals, exchanged scientific ideas and discussed strategies for putting their shared vision into practice. The active participation of researchers from diverse backgrounds, disciplines and career stages underscored the strength of the network and the collaborative spirit that defines the TRR 417.
To support early career scientists from the start, the doctoral and postdoctoral researchers were welcomed to the TRR 417 in a dedicated morning session. The mission of the Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) to train the next generation of experts in colorectal cancer and tumor microenvironment research was introduced. This session enabled the participants to form valuable connections and begin building their own community within the TRR.
The enthusiasm, curiosity and collaborative mindset demonstrated at the Kick-Off Meeting highlight the strong foundation of the research consortium and support its clear mission:
