In a recent review in "Gut", members of the TRR 417 emphasized the critical role of the tumor microenvironment in colorectal cancer for the success of emerging immunotherapies.

The spokespersons of our TRR 417, Prof. Dr. Florian Greten (Georg-Speyer-Haus, Frankfurt/Main), Prof. Dr. Stefan Fichtner-Feigl (University of Freiburg), and Prof. Dr. Markus Neurath (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg), joined forces to review the current systemic treatment options for metastatic colorectal cancer, focusing on chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and emerging immunotherapy approaches. Together with Dr. Christoph Steup and Dr. Kilian Kennel (both Georg-Speyer-Haus, Frankfurt/Main), they highlight the importance of understanding the tumor microenvironment to improve therapy response and develop new treatment strategies.
